Where's Spring???

There's been so much rain and cold weather over the last couple of days that I thought maybe something Springy might improve the mood.  We have had, what I call, bi-polar weather this year!  We were running our a/c the first of last week with temperatures in the 90's but then it made an about face and dropped back into the 40's and 50's with lots of clouds and rain and even a few thunderstorms (which as a rule I don't mind as long as the tornado's stay away).  I guess the lesson is to enjoy whatever each day brings because you never know how long it will last.  On that note, (which I wasn't going to go there) let me send a special wish to some old friends who lost their youngest daughter in a car accident over the weekend.  We all tend to think that tomorrow will be just like today, when in fact tomorrow might be more different than we ever imagine.  Hug your kids today and make sure those you love (whether close or far away) know that they are your world!!

Looking like Spring

I have to tell you what just happened.  It scared me to death and I almost had a huge panic attack, but then I thought of something and ended up laughing.  I was sitting in my chair with my laptop (getting ready to type this) when I looked down at the arm of my chair (which is like an overstuffed chair) and there was a SPIDER climbing up the arm and was almost to the top of it!!  If I haven't mentioned this before I HATE BUGS!!!!!!!  I felt my heart start racing as I quickly put my laptop on the floor and jumped up.  Of course no one else was around so I was going to have to deal with this on my own (yes this is the time when you get to say "it's just a little bug and you're bigger than it is", or "it's more scared of you than you are of it" - which obviously wasn't true because he was not acting scared of me at all).  I looked around for something to smash him with (still panicking of course for fear he would get away and come back "and get me" later), but I didn't want to just hit him fearing he would fall back into the chair again.  I finally found a piece of paper (by Mr. Thisorthats' chair) and smashed it - hoping he would not raise all eight of his arms and hold back the paper to prove he was going to win this battle.  In the end - I won!!  Then it hit me - "along came a spider and sat down beside her" and I knew exactly why Miss Muffet high-tailed it away from the spider.  Even though I felt a little silly at this point, I still had to laugh!!  And yes, you can laugh at me too!!  :)  I guess that's what Springs brings when it comes - along with the pretty flowers it brings BUGS!!!

Spring at last!!

Happy Monday but more important HAPPY SPRING!!!!  I have been saving this tangle for a couple of weeks waiting for Spring to arrive.  I found out last night that yesterday was the first day of Spring.  So it's for the second day of Spring.  I hope wherever you are and whatever you're doing that there are flowers popping up everywhere, you have lots of sunshine and you can see that life is ever changing.  Happy day to you!

Easter Bonnet

This is so funny to me!  I did this tangle and then I colored it.  Like normal - you know any other tangle you would do.  Yeah really colored it!!  I uploaded it and for some reason the color faded so badly.  I used my watercolor pencils on it and then blended it.  I have no idea what happened or why the color got so light but regardless of the color (or lack of color) here it is.  I thought it looked like a bunny with a hat on, but Mr. Thisorthat thought it looked like hair being twisted and wrapping down around the back.  I guess even after you do your tangles and put part of yourself in each one, you can see something new and smile, giggle, or laugh out loud at the little things.  I hope today finds you laughing, smiling, AND giggling!!  Enjoy the day!

What Happened to the Day??

Oh my GOSH!!!!  First let me say I'm so sorry for getting this up so late!!  I am currently in CA where the time is two hours behind my usual time, and then to add daylight-savings on top of that - I'm so late!!!  This day is going to be over before I get my breakfast eaten!!  I'm still trying to work on some new patterns and yesterday while shopping at the craft store (had to get another drawing book) I was on the lookout for tangle patterns.  You would not BELIEVE the array of patterns you will find if you just pay attention!  They were on planters, on paper, on the floor, on upholstery, cushion covers, on the ceiling, in jewelry, so when I say everywhere I really mean everywhere!!  I'm hoping to get something new to you tomorrow (of  course I had to work on them last night) but sometimes when you're away from home things don't go as planned.  I hope you enjoy your short day today (red faced it looks like mine will be shorter than most of yours).  Spring must be right around the corner now - right????

Spring Influences

I think the closer we get to Spring the more spring-like my tangles get.  I'm sure there's something Freudian like, but I am so ready to see some color on the ground and some sunshine - more than just 1 or 2 days in a row.  We are on a little trip right now and I thought the weather would be great.  Well, not so much!  Today so far, is overcast and tomorrow is forecasting rain.  Seriously?????  I'm sure there's a lesson in there somewhere about making lemonade out of lemons, or something like that, but I can tell you that after living in the Midwest for awhile, you really grow to appreciate the change in the seasons.  When you're just about sick of one, it's about time for a new one, bringing new things to the surroundings.  I guess like the Bible (and the song) says, there is a time for every season and God knows what that time is.  I guess it's a good thing we're not the ones in charge of THAT.  It would be like bi-polar weather with everyone saying, "I want this today, or no I want it like this".  I'll try to enjoy the wonderful people around me and be thankful that today I have my health and will make my lemonaid.  Happy day to you!!

Stuck

When I started this tangle I had an idea in mind when I drew the string.  After I got the first part of my idea on the paper, it changed the whole thing.  I did this about two weeks ago and have been staring at it since then.  I feel like it needs something else but I can't figure out what.  So like so many tangles, you start out with one thing and end up with another.  I'm just not sure if this one has ended or if it's just stuck for now.  It's a good metaphore for me because even when I think I know what I'm doing, I feel stuck and then feel like I need to reflect before I make any more decisions.  Sometimes that's not the most popular thing to do (it really annoys Mr. Thisorthat) but if you're going to be totally true to yourself, it's what you've got to do.  Have wonderful Friday and notice how much lighter it's becoming in the evening.  I think that means Spring is getting close!!!

Where did it go???

I actually had this one posted before I had a chance to shade it.  This is the shaded version.  Let me know if you can tell a difference.

Last week we were having such great weather and this week - cold again!  I guess at least it's only cold and no snow covered streets like we've been used to.  I'm so glad the ground hog didn't see his shadow and Spring is right around the corner.  I spent most of the day yesterday on flickr looking at tangles and ideas of tangles.  I have been super busy making new drawings and I'm so excited to share with you.  I think because of that, I'll show you two of them today (mainly because I can't wait to post them for you to see).  I can't believe I never heard of Zentangles before Christmas and now I think about it everyday.  You would be amazed at the ideas you can get by just looking around your house.  There are textures everywhere that could be in a drawing someday.  You just never know.  I hope you enjoy!

It's MELTING!!!!!!

I think we've had snow and ice covering the ground (and everything else for that matter) since Christmas.  It seems like longer but I don't want to get over dramatic.  The past couple of days have been above freezing and they are even calling for 65 degrees tomorrow.  I'll wait until tomorrow before I get too excited.  But the point is that the white covered lawns, cars, rooftops, and yes even some Christmas ornaments are finally disappearing!!  Soon we'll be planting flowers again, mowing our lawns,  and walking outside without the fear of falling on the ice.  Even though everything has its time and season, it's always nice to see the changes happening.  Everything in life changes and regardless if we like it or not, we have to change with it.  We  can look at it like a rebirth and embrace it or kick and scream until we adjust (which is usually what I end up doing) .  Either way its going to happen.  Wherever you are in your life, and whatever place this finds you in, know that I finally get it and there's hope for all of us.  Lucky us to have one more day to enjoy whatever comes our way.  The doldrums of winter are leaving and the hope of spring is ahead.....
